Who We Are

Founded in 2024 at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT), Triton is a student-led engineering team competing in the MATE ROV International Competition. We combine mechanical, electrical, software and non-technical talent to design ROVs that tackle real-world underwater challenges. Every member brings a different discipline to the table united by a shared drive to build something that works under pressure, literally and figuratively.

Competition

MATE ROV Competition is one of the most rigorous student engineering challenges in the world. Teams design, build, and pilot remotely operated vehicles to complete real underwater mission tasks modelled on the work of professional ocean engineers. We compete at the international level, measured not just on technical performance but on documentation, presentation, and professional standards.

How We Work

Our team runs as four interconnected divisions: Mechanical, Electrical, Software, and Non-Technical. Each division owns its domain end-to-end from design and fabrication to testing and documentation. We operate on a real project cycle: scoped deliverables, integration reviews, and a shared deadline with a competition to win on the calendar.

Shadow Wing

Gripper System

Dual-claw gripper with servo-driven actuation. The left gripper rotates 360 degrees, while the right opens to an extreme wide angle for precise object manipulation at depth.

Thruster Configuration

A custom six-degree-of-freedom thruster arrangement enables full holonomic movement across every axis.

Internal PCBs

Three custom PCBs isolate heavy-duty components: a power board for voltage conversion and distribution, an ESC board for motor speed control, and a control board for the main processor and flight controller.
